I've got an ADSL router in bridge mode, Linksys e2500 with tomatousb (shibby's one) in and some WLAN clients.
e2500 is configured to static IP & PPTP VPN connection for the Internet.
when I load this connection (torrents only) it starts to go down every 2-3 minutes with this in the logs:
Aug 18 17:59:21 e2500-pc daemon.info pptp: No response to 3 echo-requests Aug 18 17:59:21 e2500-pc daemon.notice pptp: Serial link appears to be disconnected. Aug 18 17:59:21 e2500-pc daemon.info pptp: Connect time 0.7 minutes. Aug 18 17:59:21 e2500-pc daemon.info pptp: Sent 1130011 bytes, received 26108446 bytes.
I first tried to make some changes to /etc/vpn/options.vpn configuration file like removing
lcp-echo-failure 3 lcp-echo-interval 2
stuff from there. No changes…
I'm not really a UNIX guy, rather Windows so I don't have any clue what 'no response to 3 echoes' mean
I tried to download sources to check but git has been doing that for the last day and it seems that it will need even more time to finish.
I've got 3 questions:
1) how to make /rom folder in the root of the router file system R/W? googled.. solutions didn't help
2) what does 'no response to 3 echoes' mean? how do I increase the number of these echoes or completely turn them off? because I think they can't return because the channel gets clogged up with the torrent packets and it starts to think that the connection is down..
3) where is the source code that is responsible for that pptp stuff? is it built-in in tomato source code? or is it just a binary and the source is somewhere else?
p.s. I've got a very good internet connection, when I configure vpn from my laptop and do the same thing the connection doesn't go down.
sorry for mistakes, I'm not a native speaker.
thanks in advance
