Really looking for some help here. I am all new to the Open Source firmware for routers and loving it, coupled with the Asus AC68U its a great combination however, being new I need advice on the VPN Server side of things.
No matter what I did I could not get the PPTP VPN Server to accept an incomming connection, I then found this code on the internet which basically said I have to enter it in the firewall script section:
iptables -A INPUT -p gre -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp –dport 1723 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT
iptables -A FORWARD -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT
iptables -A FORWARD -o ppp+ -j ACCEPT
iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -p tcp 014dport 1723 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp 014dport 1723 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT
iptables -I FORWARD -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT
After I entered this and then restarted the firewall services I could connect to my network from the 'outside' via PPTP VPN - Great!
Today I noticed to my horror that all the ports that were showing at stelthed at shields up were now showing as closed only and the router was accepting ping requests even though that option was disabled in the options. I have now removed this code and restarted the router and everything is stealthed again and the router is not responding to ping requests from the WAN, thank god.
So, cause I am new, how do I enable the VPN Server (PPTP) and still have the router show stealth and not allow any 'holes' through into the network.
I would appreciate any help given.
