hi all,
I typically set up 2 types of protections when it comes to wireless security: encryption and mac-address filter (permission only for those who are listed). Recently, I noticed that there are wireless devices connected to my home router that I do not recognize. To be certain, I removed the mac address of my own cell phone from the router's mac-address filter, rebooted the router, and yet my phone was able to connect to the network wirelessly.
this happens on the following permutation of router/firmware:
Asus 520gu, Shibby 120 and 121 (tomato-K26-1.28.RT-MIPSR1-121-Mini currently)
Linksys 310n, Shibby, 120 and 121 (tomato-K26-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-121-Mini currently)
up on digging a bit deeper, it appears that all wireless devices are connected on br0. For example, my phone (mac address blanked out):
br0 00:00:00:00:00:00
[oui] [static] [bwlimit] 192.168.1.53 iPhone
could this be the reason why the mac address filter is by-passed? Note the tab [wifilter] doesn't even appear.
any idea how to fix this?
thanks,
