I've got DDWRT in the Linksys for many years, like since the first day i've flash to ddwrt…. The problem is the newer router, my Asus RT-N12… DDWRT is supported for the A1, B1 and C1 version, but guest what, I have the D1 :( DoH!
I've read many forum and it's like that the D1 is not yet supported, or maybe i've miss something, but in the ftp of ddwrt, only A1 to C1 are there, no D1 version of DDWRT… it's why i keep tomato to my main router.
If you have a better search result, you can tell me. But what i've read, DDWRT don't like to have a "extended" wifi with the same name. You must create a virtual interface with a different ssid, and for the extended feature you must login to the "virtual" ssid with a different name, and it's that I don't want, I don't want have different ssid…. So everybody can go anywhere outside and have a transparent "switch" over the main router or the repeater.
Instead of the bug, Tomato do this "switch" much better, transparent and no problem… when i'm in my livingroom, the signal is at the max (the main router is in the lroom). When I go outside, the signal drop to 1 bar of 5 for 2-3 seconds and after, the signal go at the max again (i'm on the repeater router), still log on the same ssid, etc.
ddwrt is superior by miles, you're right… but when come to repeat the signal on the SAME ssid, it's not working very well.
Maybe you will have a better trick to tell me to solve this ssid problem.
