I'd like to block all sites with the word "game" in the URL but give access to one particular site with that in the URL. Is this doable with Tomato?
The white list script would be your best bet. Here you can find 3 versions of it.
If you can find a combination that at least half vast works on your version of Tomato then we can work on including the the URL key words.
I haven't yet installed Tomato on my routerI'm still investigatingso I wouldn't ask anyone to do any work like that just yet. I'm using the ASUS "black knight", and it looks like there are some decently easily ways to brick it when installing Tomato, unless what I'm seeing is way out of date.
I am not familiar with the "black night" model, and am too lazy / drunk to Google for it. If you can provide an actual Asus model # or link to the product then perhaps we could help find some current info regarding 3rd party firmware.
Furthermore, 3rd party firmware always carries a bit of risk along with the benefits it may provide, no different than anything else in life. If you are not prepared to accept a bit of risk then I suggest you forget about trying to improve beyond what the factory firmware provides.
I've put Tomato on other routers, so I'm not generally a coward. When I investigated the match on this one, the reports I found of bricking were enough to move the needle on my fear v. features meter.
