First let me say I am very pleased with this build. I have had no problems with it. I am certain my problem is user error or lack of knowledge so I am hoping someone out here has a solution.
I started out just wanting to monitor total bandwidth usage. Both bandwidth real time and 24 hour is working fine, I can see bandwidth usage from vlan0 tab or vlan1 (I can not see daily, monthly or yearly etc). Now I would like to monitor by ip address and also setup some QOS. I am currently using the router as a pass through point. Every device on the network gets an ip from the dhcp server(I can see all devices on the dhcp server wired, wireless etc). The network goes from the DSL router - tomato router- switches/dhcp server. IP monitoring is not currently working. I can see some IP's under QOS - Transfer rates (anyone wired on the network but not wireless) Unfortunately I can not sign into the DSL Router (or I probably would not have needed an extra router to do bandwidth monitoring or QOS), when I started here no one knew the password for the DSL router and we have not tried resetting it. It can be done but would be a hassle and I am not Cisco certified (I don't want to break it). Maybe it would be better to install wireshark on the DHCP server?
Anyway if anyone has any ideas on how to get ip traffic monitoring to work I would appreciate the help. If you need more information I will try to provide it for you. Thanks in advance. Also go easy on me I am new to networking at this level and trying to learn.
