Thank you very much for your kind help! I really appreciate it…
It may be that the modem is bound to the MAC address of the previous router.
To fix this you need to unplug the modem for 5 minutes.
I tried that, and it didn't help.
You may also have an IP conflict. If the modem IP address is 192.168.1.1 like
the LAN port of your router ( it prolly is ) then it will totally fuck it all up. Please
post the IP addresses of your devices if you think this might be it.
Right now I'm connecting the Netgear WNR3500Lv2 (router in trouble) with a Belkin router that is connected to the modem. And this is what the Netgear sees about the devices in terms of IP addresses:
Interface IP Address
eth1 192.168.1.19 HomeNotebook
br0 192.168.1.29 My laptop
[static] 192.168.2.1 THIS IS THE BELKIN ROUTER
How can I find the modem IP?
I should provide a little bit more background. I flashed the Netgear WNR3500Lv2 a week ago with Shibby's TomatoUSB version 112, and set it up as an access point. It worked fine without any problem. Then I decided to upgrade the firmware to the new version 114 last night. Since this would be an upgrade under the same firmware, I thought it would be OK not to erase the NVRAM data. I upgraded the FW through the TomatoUSB web interface without checking "After flashing, erase all data in NVRAM memory". In other words, I didn't erase the data before nor after the upgrade. After the upgrade, the problem started immediately: the internet connection could not be established.
Then I performed the 30-30-30 procedure to reset the router, and then manually set up the Netgear router again as before, but the same problem remains the same.
Oh, this might be informative. When I connect the troubling Netgear router with an ethernet cable from the Belkin router's ethernet port to the Netgear's modem (internet) port, the internet connection does not work even though I can still access to the Netgear router through 192.168.1.1 through either a cable or wirelessly. When I visit a website, this is the message on the bottom of the browser:
Could this be a problem with the new version of FW? If so, should I downgrade the FW? To downgrade, can I use the web interface for upgrade?
