Hello all,
I'm new here, and have just enough knowledge to get myself into trouble… Alas, I have done so.
I've recently moved to a location that has no ability to receive a land line of any type to receive internet. Cable doesn't stretch that far out, Phone line is not DSL capable, and I can't afford satelite (not that I'd want that anyway).
So, I've gotten rid of my home phone for one of them thar "smart phones" with a "wifi Hotspot" on it, in order to get internet on my home computer, via the data plan.
so far, I've only been able to connect the computer via USB cable, what a drag…
I've gotten the brainy idea that I should be able to use my Linksys 54G/tomato 1.28 kind of in reverse, instead of the pc being the direct link to the internet, I want my iphone to do so and have the computer connect to the Iphone wirelessly.
I've managed to connect the LAN port on the linksys to port #1 (bridging across) the input, then connected the computer to port #2 via Ethernet cable. I'm able to see the tomato firmware and make adjustments to it, I can't quite get the linksys to make the connection though. It recognizes my iphone, but won't connect to it.
I've adjusted the settings in tomato to "wireless ethernet bridge", no luck… Oh, i've disabled any security measures while I piddle with this project.
One further, I have a wireless card on my home theater computer, and it sees the linksys, and connects to the internet while I have the iphone connected to the usb on the one with the linksys, so I know this is going to work.
I'm just not quite there yet.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
