Hi first off just want to say great job, I have been using DD-WRT on some buffalo's for a new years now and last month I brought a RT-N16 and flashed it to tomato and I'm impressed, much better than DD-WRT, good job.
I thought I would try to set it up with my usb modem, its a Maxon BP3-EXT, an oldie but a goodie.
I erased the NVRAM so I was starting with a clean slate.
Made sure usb1 and 2 where turned on and ticked the box for 3g Modem.
Then I went to setup and selected 3G modem for my WAN connection.
Tried with 'modem init string' set to nothing, *99# & #777
Tried all the setting in 'Modem device'
Tried with and without my pin.
Entered the correct APN
I don't have a user name or password.
I read somewhere else that if your modem isn't supported it will say in the logs "3G MODEM not found … sorry"
checked my logs and can't see that anyway

Modem works and connects with those settings when I plug it straight into my computer.
Is my modem not supported or am I doing something stupid.
I'm running 1.28.0000 MIPSR2-105.1 K26 USB AIO shibby build.
I can mount a usb drive to the usb port and it works.
If you need anymore information let me know
