Router: Asus RT66U, Network: Optical Fiber 1G, Firmware: Shibby Build 104
Standard Procedure: Reset modem, Flash NVRAM, Update firmware to router, Flash NVRAM, plug in network cable to router from PC to router, using factory default values, connect router to network provider (DHCP so really nothing to setup), perform speedtest on website, receive average download and upload speed.
Speedtest website: www-dot-myspeedmeter-dot-net/map.html (Select China, Hong Kong -> 1000mb/s)
1) With stock firmware
I get an average of 9XXmb/s download speed, 5XXmb/s upload speed
2) With Shibby build 104
I get an average of just under 300mb/s at best for download speed, under 200mb/s at best for upload speed.
QoS is disabled by default for both firmware.
Does anyone knows why? I'm really puzzled as to why the download speed can be capped. Is this a bug on Shibby's build?
I switched between the stock firmware and Shibby's build at least twice and on both occasions, same results. All on default settings, tested once. Make sure QoS is disabled, tried again. All the same results.
I'm really puzzled. I do need the PPTP client feature on Shibby's build but won't use it if the bandwidth is capped by so much.
Will appreciate any help possible.
Many thanks!!!
