Im pretty new to this and was wondering which tomato firmware is the best for my ASUS RT-N16? I play online (wired) and just basically surf internet and use 1 or to laptops wirelessly to surf
If you're just doing that stuff, why change the firmware at all? ASUS stock firmware is fine if all you want to use it for is routing your WIFI.
Tomato will let you do fancy stuff like PC-less downloading, hosting files on the network, FTP site etc, much of which you can do with ASUS firmware anyway, but not so well.
For example you can download torrents with Download Master (ASUS stock firmware) but it's a pretty crappy torrent program which lacks basic features like the ability to choose which files in the torrent you're downloading. Transmission, which is part of the Shibby All In One firmwares is a full featured torrent program that does everything a torrenter would want to do (NB: versions 102 and 104 didn't work on my RT-N16, I had to install 101).
Just wanted to confirm an abbreviation:
Does AIO stand for "All in One" as in it contains everything?
Router: Asus RT-N16 (Tomato v1.28.0000 MIPSR2-102 K26 USB AIO)
Computers: FreeBSD x86, OSX 10.9, iOS 7
That's correct Nello, however the one you're naming above is build 104, which as I just said does not work on an RT-N16. Either install 101 or wait for Shibby to release 105.

I'm using the 2:nd one
