For years now I've disliked having to change any settings in a router because it's usually painfully slow. I used to think the router, like any PC, just got slower with age and more elaborate versions of firmware, and that was why I'd be waiting for a couple of minutes every time I wanted to change something when I log into the router config screens. This has been the case whether I was using XP, Vista, W7 or W8 machines. As it was equally crappy on all computers I figured it was the router's problem.
That was until I used an iPad one day and found the router responds beautifully. Rather than appearing to hang for a few minutes when I change anything, it moved more or less at the kind of speed I'd hope it would, taking less than a second to change screens, timers updating in real time, etc.
So I guess it's probably something to do with firewall or antivirus settings or java settings or something.
Has anyone else encountered this behaviour before? Has anyone found a workaround, other than using my iPad?
