Hi all,
Since today I am the proud owner of a Linksys E3200 running shibby's 1.28 version of Tomato. I set up my HMA VPN to a US server and excluded everything BUT my TV from the VPN (logically it would make more sense to only send the TV through the VPN but after spending the whole night on that I gave up on it. Now I have to manually exclude new devices when they access the network, but that's not happening all too often).
The dream set-up for me, however there are minor issues remaining which I want to solve through this thread (and with your help of course ;))
First I would like to use openDNS on the normal WAN connection. However, if I set this up the VPN on my TV stops working and I fail to see the connection or the issue with it. Is it due to the "excluding the normal WAN connections from the VPN" way as opposed to dedicated VPN clients? If so then I have to change this and further ask you for help.
Second, do you have recommendations for VPN services specifically for streaming from the US? I am using HMA currently, but I was wondering if there are specialised services that boost performance for streaming? I also tried blackvpn but what I have seen is slower than HMA.
Third, I would like to improve the wireless performance. Currently it looks like this: abload[dot]de/img/screenshot2012-12-30as5qn4.png]]
With these settings: abload[dot]de/img/screenshot2012-12-30abra2m.png
Within wireless advanced I only changed the Transmit Power to 70. Any further tips?
/edit1: actually I want to try to change the set up again to dedicated vpn clients. Could someone explain to me how to perform this step: "First, save the following script as /root/vpn_route.sh"? (source: linksysinfo[dot]org/index.php?threads/any-way-to-bypass-vpn-selectively.33468/#post-164693) How do I create this script?
That's actually it so far. I am sure I will come across some more issues in the next few hours. What's with the link posting not allowed? I need them to illustrate my struggles ;)
Thanks for any help.
