i am new here
looking to buy LinkSys router,
one of this three : E4200v1 E4200v2 E4500
are they all supported to be work with Tomato firmware ?
thanks all ;)
this firmware has not been updated for more than 2 years now and has been abandoned. there are no more development. so it is not possible unless you start developing.
Read the Welcome page and the mods page. This firmware is still very much under development.
They were thoroughly read. The list of supported routers on every mods' page are models that are no longer on sale unfortunately.
There still is active development.
First find this out. Do the routers you're talking about use a Broadcom chipset? If yes, then there is the possibility of support in the future. If the chipset is NOT Broadcom, then there will be no tomato support.
The list on this web site right now is incomplete. I'll soon take it upon me to help update things a little bit. There are several newer routers not on the list that are now supported, etc e1500 e1550 e2500 e3200. These routers are much newer and should be widely available. Unfortunately there isn't any one place where all of this discussion takes place. Make sure also to watch the linksysinfo.org forum. The developers mostly talk at linksysinfo.org, and rarely make many appearances here. Follow the Toastman and Shibby developers. Shibby in particular releases new firmwares quite often comparatively.
You should be able to purchase many of the supported routers. In particular.
Amazon.com is one suggestion. Try Best Buy too.
I dunno which third world country you live in but every router you listed, except Asus RT-N66U is already end of life, no more stock available. They are no longer on the manufacturer's website anymore. That's like "active development" on "not available" routers. I'm not sure how you call that active.
