I'm on an ISP that's evil. I remain on them because they provide their promised speed, and unlimited data. Because they block all incoming ports, I got a StrongVPN account, and set it up using the OpenVPN client. It works well.
However, I'm unable to port forward from the StrongVPN public IP to my local network. StrongVPN has all ports open, so the problem is at my router. I set up port forwarding using the GUI, and iptables -L shows those port forwards. However, no external machine is able to access those ports.
I tried enabling remote admin access on 8080, and remote SSH on 2222, just to test external network access. Remote admin doesn't work, though remote ssh does.
I've searched the forums, and have found nothing that could help me sort this out.
I then used PortMapper 1.9.5 to help me set up uPNP portforwards. PortMapper detects the External Address as my WAN IP, not my VPN IP. This leads me to believe that my PortForwards fail because of this - all of them are between the WAN IP and Internal Address.
I would appreciate any help in resolving this.
