I setup a test of OpenVPN between two Tomato routers. That is, OpenVPN server running on one Tomato router, and OpenVPN client running on the other Tomato router.
I used these instructions:
[I guess I cannot post links]
When it came to configuring the client, I simply used the instructions on that page to configure the OpenVPN client in the Tomato router.
My home network is 192.168.2.1, and my work network is 192.168.1.1.
I'm able to ping my work IP addresses from home, but the network names don't resolve. For example, I have a Windows machine at the office named "phil" but cannot ping "phil" from home but I can ping its address (192.168.1.128) from home.
What do I need to resolve my work network names from home? Do I have to edit the hosts file for each machine? Is there a simpler, more automatic way to do this?
Also, how much traffic can the OpenVPN server and client handle? That is, if I had 20 machines behind an OpenVPN client running on a Tomato router, would it work okay without crashing, etc.? I'm thinking of this for basically a network share for documents, etc.
