Full disclosure from the outset; I'm a complete networking noob, I have very little idea what I'm doing, so I apologise for my complete naivety.
So, yesterday my flatmate got a new router (Asus RT-n16) and installed tomatoISB v2.6.
This works great for the three desktops in the flat (two windows, one linux) all wired in, all get great speed, can access router etc.
However, unfortunately (for me) my laptop just won't cooperate.
Whether I try to connect via wires or wireless, static IP or not, I just have an unusable connection. If I cable in, I can access the router, but that's about it; if I use wirele/function at all.
I can see that it's connecting (either way) on the router side (although when wirelessly I have very poor quality in the device list).
I genuinely have no idea how to go about troubleshooting this - my flatmate who's a bit more savvy had a quick poke around, to no avail.
Any help you can give will be very much appreciated!
I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 with wicd (although I tried network manager too, made no difference). This set up works on all other networks I've tried. Everything's updated (except my OS obviously, but the linux desktop that's working fine wired in is running an even older distro).
