I realize this forum is for TomatoUSB, and I am running Tomato 1.28, but can’t seem to find a forum for Tomato 1.28.
I managed to setup a wireless Ethernet bridge on a WRT54G v3.1 using Tomato 1.28 for my bedroom PC. My main PC in the living room is wired to a WRT54G v5 with stock Linksys firmware that is wired into my ADSL modem(Actiontec GT701-WG) which has provided my main PC with Inet connection for some years now and never an issue.
Main Router(stock linksys firmware), WRT54G v5=192.168.1.1, 255.255.255.0, DHCP enabled wired to main PC=192.168.1.101, 255.255.255.0
Main router wirelessly connects to Second Router(Tomato 1.28) WRT54G v3.1=192.168.1.2, 255.255.255.0, no DHCP, Wireless ETH Bridge wired to Remote PC=192.168.1.117, 255.255.255.0
Both PC’s can see each other, share files, ping and trace both routers. Main PC loads web pages as always.
The remote PC’s DNS seems to work as it can ping any web by name or IP address. I can even trace the hops of the DNS server addresses I put in as static from my Main router that are supplied by my ISP. The only problem I have is with the Remote PC cannot load any web page. From a command prompt(WinXP), or from the Tomato Router I can ping or trace i.e. www.google.com or anything else, but Firefox browser will not load it. I completely uninstalled Firefox 5.0 and reinstalled it thinking that maybe some obscure setting was the culprit and did a DNS flush. I have pulled my hair out trying to figure this out. Have tried searching this forum for hours for others with this specific issue but haven’t found any. Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance, -Rebecca
