I would like to use the VPN server now installed on my RT-N16 while I travel. Problem is that at all the hotels and airlines that I use only have port 80 open. I'd rather not use my port 80 at home for my VPN, so would I be able to use any port and use a free webhost redirecting service to connect externally to port 80 and allow the service to redirect it to whatever port I'd like?

That is certainly a good idea and a backup plan, but a quick port scan at an airport tells me that 80 is my only option if I want my files.
I'm still a little puzzled though. Does hosting a vpn on a port occupy the port entirely or can it still be used for regular traffic as well? If you use 443 at home, does that mean that no one at your house can get to a secure site while you're connected via vpn?
Thanks for your help
