I'm trying to set up tomato based router (RT-N16) and TP-link 8817 as modem. I put the 8817 in to modem mode and could not get it to work at all cannot see the internet from my PC. My ISP is O2 in the UK (same as BE I believe) which does not have username and password but uses DCHP.
I set up the 8817 as per a normal modem but with ip address 192.168.2.1. Connect to the tomato (192.168.1.1).
In the init script, I have "ifconfig `nvram get wan_ifname`:0 192.168.2.2 netmask 255.255.255.0". In the firewall script I have "iptables -t nat -I POSTROUTING -o `nvram get wan_ifname` -j MASQUERADE". (Read these from dd-wrt.com)
It sort of works and I can serve the web from my PCs. I can also access tomato on 192.168.1.1. I can also see the TP-link's web interface on 192.168.2.1.
The problem is that when I tried to access tomato from the outside, I get the web interface of the TP-link and not tomato. Tried DMZ it but it did not work. I tried pinging from TP-link to 192.168.1.1 and gets no reply so the TP-link does not "see" the tomato router.
I'm sure there is something wrong with my set up but am at a total loss as to what I can do. Ideally I would like to set up the modem mode on the TP-link but have failed so far.
Any little help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
