Hi,

i want to install owncloud to my router based on tomato (Asus RT N-16). it fails because of missing PHP 5.3. I can only find 5.2.x, and compiling it myself fails as well.
Can someone support me and provide a PHP package? Or support me in compiling it, that I could provide it to others.

Check out entware, a modern Optware replacement. It has php 5.4 would ought to be sufficient for you needs.

edit: i found out that the errors occurs as well when entering some comands like ls, df, du ipkg, cp, mv. but cd is still working…?

I just flashed a newer firmware (toastman current build) and rebooted - hoping, that the issue would be solved. but it isn't. now everything is even worse - because i even can't start asterisk, so i have currently no phone-capabilities here anymore… shit.

Help is needed urgentliy…

I solved the issue by reinstalling tomatousb-optware… it was a hard evening to get it solved…
however, now everything (or at least i hope everything) is running fine again… except opkg-replacement. I guess it is not usable for Tomato, is it?

You can't run optware and entware at the same time, you have to choose one. Entware also does have asterisk.

ok, wasn't clear about that…
can you give me some more infos about the technic? i would like to have the current status of my router saved first (incl. optware) to be able to fallback immediately if needed. so i would like to install entware on another stick and umount optware - would that work?

You can just backup all the folders in /opt that have to do with your setup with the following.

cd /opt
tar zvcf opt.tgz bin/ include/ lib/ man/ sbin/ etc

Just add any other folders you want to backup, and they'll be in opt.tgz
If you need a quick restore, delete all of the entware folders, and run

tar zxvf opt.tgz

and that should put you back to square one.

You totally could use a different stick too, and just switch out if needed. The above shows how to backup and restore on one stick if desired.

changing the stick was the info i needed. ;-)
that is a good way to check it.

let me ask one more thing:
how does the router (tomato) know about scripts and profile located on the usb stick? what is modified on the root-filesystem to contain this information?
