I've recently upgraded my Linksys E3000 from stock Linksys firmware to TomatoUSB again (I've been trying different firmwares for the past few months but get back to Tomato everytime due to its perfect mix of usability while still bearing advanced settings).
Ever since the last flash my wireless download speeds have dropped dramatically. My internet connection is 50 Mbit, which I do have when downloading through a physical connection. However, this seems to be less than the half of it when downloading through wireless. Same goes for the upload speeds.
The issue is there on both the 2,4 and 5 GHz wireless networks.
What I have done for myself in attempting to resolve this:
- Check other broadcasting access points and their channels with InSSIDDer and chose the channel with the least overlapping other channels. For 2,4 GHz there were a lot, but for 5 GHz my access point is the only one broadcasting on it. So I guess the channel can't be the culprit. I also think that if it was the issue, my download speeds shouldn't have decreased that much.
- Do a full Factory Defaults reset including erasing NVRAM.
- I've set my Wireless security to WPA2 Personal, with AES encryption (I read that TKIP could decrease throughput speeds).
