Ok, the thread title was just a bad attempt at a joke…don't hold it against me in the future..;)
Anyway, here's my problem:
I've opened an account with blackvpn. Main reason was they had step-by-step instructions for installing OpenVPN onto a ddwrt router.
So I flashed my Cisco E3000 with the newest ddwrt and followed their instructions. Didn't work at all. Their support tried to help, but no.
I then searched around and found out that the newest ddwrt don't always work as they should. An older build, 15962, seemed to be the best.
And yes, it worked..!
But..only for 20 minutes…then a reboot needed and it works for another 20 minutes, and so on..
Again, their support tried to help, but it didn't help.
I then started a thread in ddwrt's forums. No help there.
Then started a thread in openvpn's forum. A bit more response there, and I was actually recommended to skip ddwrt altogether cause of security reasons..!
Well, that was news to me but since my knowledge around this is limited, I decided to trust (!) him. Instead openwrt and tomato was recommended, and so, here I am with latest Tomato USB on my E3000.
My knowledge around routers, linux, vpn's, scripts and such is minimal at best. All (!) I'm after is getting openvpn working with my router so that I don't need to use the stand-alone versions on my 4 pc's in the home. It would feel so much secure to know the router is handling that.
Blackvpn's info for ddwrt is at their site which I'm apparently not allowed link to..
But it's easily found.
Can this be easily transferred into tomato..?
I would be VERY thankful for help on this..!
