Hi there…

I tried to compile shibby RT-N branch last night… There are a few issues preventing proper compilation.

I have some fixes.

I can either push it to the shibby branch or just provide the patches…

Obviously, pushing it myself is easier, but I'm not sure how Shibby would feel about this. Hence, I ask first !

Post here and email him. Can you fix MAC issue not saving correctly? Bug was introduce starting from 089 to 093. This prevents me from running 2 identical routers, they both have same MAC address.
088 has no MAC problem.

I've just branched off his branch, and will push it.
If he wants to merge/cherry-pick up to him…

I've been rather annoyed with his habits of him cherry-picking changes and not keeping the original author information, putting his name instead. He's done so with all my previous commits.

As for fixing bugs… It doesn't affect me, so I have very little intensive at spending time to fix it.
Unlike the "ug" bug… hence why I looked into it.

Edit: if you give me more information about the MAC address problem, I can have a look.
If you compile yourself, you can use git bisect to identify exactly what commit introduced the problem…

1.) I'm glad Shibby immediately adopted your git correction to his git source code.
2.) MAC address error is easy to duplicate. This is what I did
- On menu MAC Address->Wireless Interface, I selected "RANDOM", saved
- no error saving, check overview, Wireless MAC Address has reflected the changes I saved.
- shutdown router
- power on router
- Check Overview wireless MAC has changed back to default hardware MAC.
My saved MAC not implemented.

This bug on MAC started on version 089 to present (093).
Hope you help Shibby solve this. Critical for me, having 2 identical routers, displaying same MAC wireless. Until this is fixed, I remain using version 088.

Yes.. gibby was fast at merging, which is good because his branch would brick any non linksys device…

I've now added all the features I first added to Toastman branch…

Version 089 to 093 means nothing to me….

Sounds a rather trivial problem, I'm sure that if shibby didn't fix it it's simply because of an oversight…

Works fine for me…

Here is what I did:
Advanced -> Mac Address
change one digit of my WAN mac address (the last one)
Save
Selected Shutdown… in menu

turned off my RT-N66.
Turned it back on.

Mac address is the same (and got a different WAN IP address)

Random for WAN Port
Save
Selected Shutdown… in menu

It saves properly the WAN address and eth2.. Just not eth1…

Glad you found the problem. Many have reported this as problem in Shibby forum. On my main ddwrt router, on tomato router boot up, I can see correct MAC address, then it will change back to default router hardware MAC.

Another observed problem. On PPTP server, if I use subnet of given remote IP, 172.x.x.x, there is no internet when my notebook connects. But if I use same subnet with my main router, I got internet.
Main gateway router = 10.0.0.1

I hope you can fix this also….

I see nothing made around March 2012 change (time of the "88" released) that would explain this behaviour…
