I have both a WL520GU (running tomato 1.28) and recently purchased an RT-16N. I wanted to have N WiFi speeds and use my WL520GU for some extra LAN ports (have not tried to do that yet). I've tried various TomatoUSB build on the RT-16N, currently using Shibby MIPSR2-092 K26 USB AIO. I used to use Tomato for QoS when I used VOIP. I don't use that anymore, but I could not believe how stable tomato on the WL520GU was. Never a hiccup, thus I wanted to stay in the tomato family. I have a 4 TB NAS in my closet wired to my router and have my HTPC hardwired to that. Now with any flavor of TomatoUSB I suffer from horrible stuttering on video playback from my NAS to my HTPC (and other computers wired to the router as well). I'm not sure what could be wrong, I even dialed in ddwrt and suffered the same difficulties. I have not tried the latest stock firmware (Asus) which would be my next step. I really don't do anything fancy yet with the router, just always appreciated the stability of Tomato firmware, but now I am at a loss. Is there anything I can check on my settings to try to see if its a firmware problem or do I have a hardware issue. I simply have on my wireless, no QoS or any other advance setting checked enabled from the default settings. If I simply plug the WL520GU back in, problem resolved.
Any input appreciated.
