I just setup five wnr3500's in my family's house that I got for *cheap* (refurbished on Amazon). Flashed them with Toastman's build and they've been working pretty solidly. I have two in the basement that act as a client/wirelessAP pair (I did not want to go the WDS route because I wanted the full 144mbps bandwidth for media streaming) — but I've been having issues telling the client which wireless AP it should connect to. Here's the layout:
Wireless Ch. 11 (20Mhz width)
Wireless AP, hardwired to 2nd floor
Wireless Ch. 6 (20Mhz width)
Wireless Client, usually connects to 1st floor AP on Ch.6
Wireless AP, hardwired to Basement client
Wireless Ch. 1 (20Mhz width)
The Basement client is physically close to the 1st floor AP, so it will connect to it just fine. But if I reboot the 1st floor AP even once, the Basement client will instead try to connect to the Basement AP, which is obviously useless.
I'd sleep better at night if there was some way to force the Basement client not to connect on Ch 1. Is there any way to do this?
EDIT: I tried using wireless filters on both the basement client and AP, but that hasn't worked either.
