Router: Asus WL-520GU
I installed Samba using ipkg, and after starting it I see it accessing my USB stick all the time (even if i'm not transferring a file).
My question is, when I use "top":
838 836 root S 16324 121% 0% /opt/sbin/smbd -D
836 1 root S 16276 121% 0% /opt/sbin/smbd -D
120% memory usage, how is that possible? Swap is not enabled. A "free" shows:
total used free shared buffers
Mem: 13460 12692 768 0 96
-/+ buffers: 12596 864
Swap: 0 0 0
The difference between the free memory before and after starting Samba is very low.
My problem is that when I transfer a file to USB stick, load average goes very high, so router gets very slow. My guess is that I'm doing something terribly wrong here… any ideas?
I'm newbie using Linux, so sorry if the questions are too stupid.
