Recently I switched from cable modem to DSL. The problem I am having is my PPPoE connection seems to drop fairly regularly (about once a day or so). The connection usually re-establishes very quickly, but it always a new IP address. One significant pain about these recycling it seems to close my open vpn connection, and I need to remember to login manually into the router to restart it. I have the setting selected to start with WAN. This works after a reboot of the router, but apparently not after a pppoe drop. I suppose I could write a scheduled task to monitor for vpn drop, but I do not know what script command I would use to restart the open vpn client.
It looks like VPN tries to automatically restart, but ibVPN refuses the authentification for the first few minutes after a disconnect. The command to restart open vpn client 1 is:
service vpnclient1 start
I made a scheduler scripts that checks if vpn is down and if so attempts to restart it.
