Can you choose not to have 5 GHz band not running on dual band routers using the RT-N firmware flavor?
I would assume it keeps the router from running unnecessarily hot as well as it saves something on your electricity bill.
Or is it better to just use RT version without the 5GHz WIFI since it keeps the router memory less full?
I talk about Linksys E4200 which maybe has plenty of memory to spare so saving it is not really an issue (unless you have plans to use that space for additional tricks?)
The only use I would have for 5GHz band is if I bought Linksys AE2500, Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter to use with my laptop. I have three laptops all with G maximum built in.
Perhaps its not worth it. Still I wouldn't mind to hear opinions on the above points about space on the router and electricity bill and or heating up of the router when it runs 5GHz radio.
