I followed the PPTP VPN tutorial and am running into difficulties.
1. Upon connecting the VPN my router assigns the IP address to itself (192.168.1.1) and the Gateway becomes my VPN client (192.168.1.50).
2. I am experiencing issues with /opt/etc/config/vpn.wanup:-
#!/bin/sh if [ ! -f /tmp/ppp/chap-secrets ]; then mkdir -p /tmp/ppp ln -s /opt/etc/ppp/chap-secrets /tmp/ppp fi /opt/etc/init.d/S20poptop restart
chap-secrets already exists in /tmp/ppp. It contains my ISP username and password from my PPPoE connection, so I cannot create a symlink.
I can manually delete the /tmp/ppp/chap-secrets file then I can create the symlink but this does not withstand a reboot.
3. The VPN connection is extremely flaky, it works once but I have to re do the above procedure (delete symlink, re-create symlink), disconnect wan and reconnect before it will establish a new VPN connection.
4. I ran the top command in shell as I noticed everything goes extremely sluggish when connecting the VPN. pptpd was using approx between 70-80% CPU consistently and bcrelay was using the rest, this seems excessive.
