I currently have a dlink DIR-655 that does its job decently, but doesn't have decent reporting,
and basically just not very good usability. I understand I cannot install any alternate firmware on it,
so if I want to use an alternate firmware, I need to purchase a router.
I would like to have: gigabit ports, VLAN support, wifi N with as good a range as what I've got [DIR-655 has 3 antennas], and be able to do QOS. I don't know if all of those require hardware support or not.
Is there a "favorite" that is available without too much gyration? I understand the real popular WRT54G now has models that can't be used and that those are the models that are commonly sold now. So I really prefer to be able to go down to my local big box and pick XYZ product off the shelf, or order it easily.
Thanks for reading and any suggestions!
