Right now I have two routers.
The main router is a rt-n16 with tomato usb. It connects to comcast modem, and internally all wired connections from my PC and NAS, and all 11g wireless devices.
I recently purchased a second router which is a linksys e1000.
The connection between these two routers are wired — from lan1 of n16 to lan1 of e1000.
If I want e1000 connect all my 11n wireless devices (so my laptops connections are not slowed by those 11g devices), will tomato-usb serve my purpose?
After some research, I am a little confused. From what I know it is not WDS, nor wireless client mode as I want all devices to be in the same subnet. Wireless bridge? sounds right but I do have a wired connection between two routers. so will tomato do it if I just setup a static ip for e1000 and disable its dhcp server? If yes, shall I leave its wireless mode as "AP"? What other settings I need to change?
Please advise, and thank you very much for your help!
