I have a rookie question regarding WDS setup.
I have the following configuration at home:
[modem]----[router1]~~~~[router2]~~~~laptop1 | PC1
Both routers are Asus RT-N16 running TomatoUSB 1.28 and configured in AP+WDS.
PC1 is wired to router1, laptop1 connects wirelessly to router2.
All is fine (PC1 can see laptop1, laptop1 can see PC1, and both can access WAN), but there's just one thing that seems to slow things down:
When PC1 is downloading stuff from the internet using P2P software, packets going from PC1 to WAN also seem to go through router2.
I see that in the WebUI (menu "QOS" -> "View Details") of router2, where it shows packets having (from:PC1,to:WAN) and (from:WAN,to:PC1).
It seems to me as a waste of bandwidth, as those packets should only go through router1 and the modem.
Do you have an explanation for this?
