Hi, I currently have DD-WRT v24-sp2 std (build 14929) on my WRT160N v1. I am currently using it in Wireless Repeater Bridge mode - extending the wireless signal from a CableModem/Router provided by my ISP.
I have seen that WRT160N v1 is on the list of compatible devices for TomatoUSB - the NoUSB Std version only (both 26 and 24 - but I'd stick with 24 to be on the safe side).
I have a couple of questions with regard to switching over to TomatoUSB from DDWRT on this router.
1) Firstly, is flashing TomatoUSB onto the router as simple as doing a 30-30-30 reset, flashing it through the upgrade firmware window, and then doing another 30-30-30 reset?
Also if I change my mind later, is it just as easy to return to the DDWRT firmware?
2) With regard to the setup after TomatoUSB has been successfully put onto the router, is it possible to configure it to an equivalent of DDWRT's "Wireless Repeater Bridge" mode?
- I noticed that a number of options regarding the mode are named quite differently on TomatoUSB. The setup for this on DDWRT involved quite a few steps, so if this is possible, could someone please point me in the direction of the steps needed in order to achieve this on TomatoUSB?
3) As the ISP supplied CableModem/Router lacks heavily in configurability and is completely unsupported by custom firmware, I was hoping that, at the very least, in this setup I could turn of the DHCP on the ISP device and use the secondary router (the WRT160N v1 soon to have Tomato USB) as the DHCP server & DNS server for the LAN (I had this setup before I was forced to use the ISP's new device - i.e. when the WRT160N v1 was the only router). Is this possible, or does the router being put into "Wireless Repeater Bridge" mode prevent me from doing so?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
