First things first; I really like TomatoUSB, I am coming from DD-WRT. Great firmware! :)
Before I explain my problem, I will describe my current setup.
I have 2 Asus RT-N16 routers. One still has DD-WRT software (going to change this to TomatoUSB soon as well) and the other router, which is also an Asus RT-N16, has TomatoUSB. I am running Tomato Firmware v1.28.9054 MIPSR2-beta K26 USB vpn3.6.
The reason for 2 routers is, not that we have a big house, but we do have a lot of interference which is causing the wifi signal to become very bad. Therefor we have 2 routers placed in different locations. The DD-WRT router is currently the 'main' router, where the TomatoUSB router works like a secondary access point (different SSID and correctly setup, thanks to some forum posts I have found).
Now the problem is, actually it's 2 problems, is that my connection slows down for no reason after a while. Not every day, it varies. I cannot put my finger on it. And the only way to fix it, is by rebooting the router.
Now I have setup a schedule for rebooting in the administration panel of TomatoUSB, however it simply ignores it. For example, as I type it reads:
Uptime 2 days, 21:02:39
While I have scheduled reboots for every day at 6:30 in the morning. I don't know why it's not picking it up correctly. Maybe I did something wrong?
And though rebooting is not a permanent cure for the internet connection dropping it's speed, it does fix it for a short while. My internet connection drops pretty bad. Normally I have 5.7 MB/s download speeds (max) and when the internet connection speed is dropped, it's probably around 1/6th of that speed (somewhere between 300 kB/s and 1.2 MB/s, most of the time in the lower section).
I really do not understand why this is happening or what is causing it. Signal is pretty damn good nowadays after changing the WLAN-card in my laptop to a Centrino 6300 and adding a 3rd antenna. Connection shows most of the time 300 mbps. My interference level is 'Acceptable', achieving better/higher is not possible under the current conditions. As channel width I am using 40 mhz. in order to get the best performance of my connection.
If someone has an idea or solution, please share. Even if it's only a solution for the rebooting schedule, which is not working.
Thanks in advance already!
