I have an Asus RT-N12 which I flashed with TomatoUSB v1.28.9054 MIPSR2-beta K26 Std.
I've only put it into testing on our local lan a day or two ago. At the moment, it seems to be routing DSL
packets okay, and many of the other (QoS, Access Restrictions, etc) functions seem to be working fine so far.
But I can't get it to work as wireless client, or wireless ethernet bridge. I've tested
it by trying to connect with several open 802.11n and 802.11g networks in my neighbourhood,
(Yes, I have permission, these are free, open networks shared with the public)
and by trying to connect with my old router, a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54.
I was previously able to connect before to those neighbourhood networks several times with just
my old router (which runs Tomato stock 1.28).
Previously with my old router, I used this method to connect successfully.
(WifiPlanet How to: Set Tomato Firmware for wireless client modes)
That seemed to be successful with two of the local networks.
Now, when I try with the RT-N12 using TomatoUSB:
-the wireless survey seems to work fine
-I try to connect using the same steps as with previous router (from the HowTo)
-I cannot connect
I'm also puzzled by something-in the stock Tomato, there is a channel choice
button when in wireless client/ethernet bridge modes. In TomatoUSB, it gets greyed out.
I read a forum posting stating that it's not needed, as it will be chosen automatically
by the router. If that's the case, how come it appears in stock Tomato?
I'm probably missing something obvious here, could someone help me out with this?
Thanks in advance
