Hi guys. I found tomato maybe two months ago, installed it onto an old linksys wrt54g. I fell in love. Thank you to the developers.
I need to supply an offsite office with a VPN tunnel and I would like to monitor the router with SNMP, so I can monitor it with Nagios/Icinga.
The offsite office will have a printer (ethernet, not usb), two APC 750 ups's w/ those awesome daughter boards for environment monitoring / power cycling, etc., couple snmp enabled thermometers, & regular pc workstation and a passive switch.
The onsite office runs OpenVPN courtesy of Zentyal. I hope to tunnel between the onsite VPN server and the router. I hope to use snmp to monitor everything down at the offsite location.
This past week, I found the many flavors of Tomato that are available. I also found that the RT-N16 might be what I'm after as far as hardware.
I already purchased the RT-N16, maybe prematurely.
I need some guidance with what flavor of Tomato I should be after and what router hardware (RT-N16?) I should be considering to do this if any of this is even possible in the first place.
The metrics I would be looking for for monitoring the router would be something along these lines: cpu usage, memory usage, vpn stats, uptime, temperature of router, maybe some bandwidth stats.. etc(?). Secondarily, is there a MIB I should be after?
Alright, thanks guys, I'm looking forward to this experience.
