I'm working with OpenVPN for the first time, and I just flashed my router with TomatoUSB a couple of days ago. I'm such a noob, it hurts. That said, I'm trying to set up a secure ethernet bridge over OpenVPN, so I can access files on my home network when I'm away and browse the web securely by routing through my home network while I'm on other potentially very insecure networks. I've been reading through forums and wikis in preparation for this for a couple of weeks, and I've got my certs and keys all put together. I only have two very basic questions left before I take this out to a local coffee shop and see just how much I've screwed up. Under VPN Tunneling>Server>Advanced: What does "Direct clients to redirect internet traffic" do when checked? And what does "Respond to DNS" do when checked? My guess is that I'm going to need them checked, if I want to browse the web using my home network instead of the coffee shop's terribly insecure network. But, the thought occurred to me that those options might be for redirecting all the traffic on my home network to also go through the VPN server. So, I thought I'd ask just to be sure.
