i have a home network where the ISP has a power boost feature.meaning, ISP can increase the speed of a large download to 3x my steady state speed for say 15-20 seconds or so.in this scenario, how do i setup Qos so that i can give maximum priority to my VOIP device in the network, at the same time make use of powerboost feature for browsing/download. i read through toastman's Qos writeup but not sure how to do this optimally.
My approach: i can setup VOIp device to the highest class and max bandwidth on the outbound side.
the problem seems to be the Inbound bandwidth settings. a deluge of data saturating the inbound(with less than saturation limit data on outbound) as a result of powerboost means that VOIP would suffer.
if i configure inbound for steady state bandwidth, i see that QOS system actually limits bandwidth to that and powerboost feature cannot kick in.
any ideas are appreciated
