I am currently using Toastman 1.28 7444 build on a WRT3500L. I find that if I attempt to download a file from a remote web server, the file takes about 10 seconds. If I install OpenVPN on that server and download the same file to a laptop with an OpenVPN client, (I used Viscosity on a MacBook pro connected by wireless to the 3500L) the file downloads in about 15 seconds. - Not too bad.
If I set up an OpenVPN tunnel from the WNR3500L (via the GUI) using the same credentials and certificates, the same files takes nearly 3 minutes to download (wget from the router command line).
I know OpenVPN is not known for its speed, but this seems to be extremely slow. So the questions are:
- Is this about all I can expect from this platform?
- Are there any configuration options that would help with this? (Turning off encryption improves it, but not by much)
- Have their been any changes since 7444 that would improve this?
