Yesterday my new RT-N16 came in the mail, and I promptly flashed TomatoUSB. In fact, I didn't even lay eyes on the ASUS stock firmware GUI. Initially, it was working great. However, I soon noticed that my wireless download speed was randomly dropping to around 2-3 Mbps, while my wired desktop maintained normal speeds. Soon afterwards I did another Speedtest and I got 23 Mbps download on wireless, where I usually get 13-16. Since then it's been doing the same thing, dropping to 2-3Mbps then randomly going back up. Granted, the client I was testing the wireless one was upstairs while my router was downstairs. However, I've never experience any behavior like this on my older WRT54G v8 with DD-WRT.
And, second, all my wireless adapters in my household are G, are there any advantages to using N? If so, should I use the "Auto" setting?
