I recently picked up an Asus RT N16 just so I could run the latest version of Tomato and had everything running great. My wife's wireless connection was humming along at a stable 144 Mbps on channel 11 until I decided to try a different channel. No matter what I try now I can't get more than 54 Mbps. I've tried restoring defaults (clearing NVRAM), using all the various channels, adjusting transmit power, and still….nope, nada, zilch, SOL. I'm starting to think it may be the NIC itself.
Any thoughts or ideas what may have gone wrong and more importantly suggestions to correct this?
