- Asus WL-520GU
- base: Tomato v1.28ND
- usb: Tomato USB Stable Lite v1.28
- configuration: new firmware install, erase NVRAM, wireless no security, default channel (6)
- testing: laptop is 1 foot away from wireless router, transferring from LAN connected NAS
When using base firmware and default settings, transferring over wireless makes my router ping jump to ~20ms. The same test performed with Tomato USB firmware, my latency jumps to 800ms. Throughput is the same under both firmwares.
I've been using Tomato USB for the past month, and at times my bandwidth has dropped to 50 KB/s (transferring from NAS) while the latency jumps ridiculously high.
I like Tomato USB and use it on other compatible routers, but unfortunately can't use it on this one due to performance issues.
