I have heard there is a release that does not work with 5Ghz so just wanted to chime in and ask here. So is there beta support for the E4200 yet? I understand the latest firmware from Linksys will allow developers to get the 5GHz going on 3rd party FW's. Is that the case?

I think the 5GHz should be working soon.
The new official firmware Ver.1.0.02 (Build 13) is running K26 now (if I am correct).
We can request it from linksys. http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/gpl_ask.php
My logic is "The official Open Source K26 firmware is out = new 5GHz driver for K26 is here = future mod should be support 5GHz".
Please correct me if I am wrong.
I'd imagine it is as easy as getting someone from linksys to get the new driver, posting it somewhere that a dev can use it to build with, and then having a beta build up and running. I don't know that i've seen anyone with the new driver post yet. (the one from 220.127.116.11 or whatever). I don't have one but I've seen nods here and there
The GPL release should contain the necessary binary files to link with the kernel when compiling and work at run time - but there may well be changes in detail in the interface and nvram vars needed. Linksys have changed the filesystem compression in their latest firmware so the "firmware mod kit" no longer works, so I can't see easily what version kernel and drivers they are now using.
I'm going to go to best buy and purchase one of these, as I currently have just one 54gl and I think it's time to step up to dual band N. I realize in the grand scheme of things that this is unimportant to everyone here, but I was wondering if there would be anything I could do to help get driver support into tomatousb for the e4200, as I have used it for years and currently rely on its open vpn capabilites on a daily basis.
Well, I think until Teddy comes back there won't be much happening on this front. And if the rumors of a death in his family are true it's likely to take a long time till he comes back.
Who is Teddy the developer at Tomato? Regardless, wanted to pass on my condolences for any death that happens. Just know that the ones we love can take our love with them! Feel better soon.
