I am trying to connect two wireless routers but for some reason the main one disappears all the time and I have to reset the router to get it to appear. I am assuming user error here. Though I am having cox come out to check that there isn't a problem on their side.
What I want to do is have my primary router (Cisco e2000) in my office while the other router (d-link 625) would be downstairs. I want to do this to either extend my range or to have two routers with different equipment on each. I had this partially set-up but only with the wireless routers connected by wired (in the same room). and the main router seems to disappear all the time. I have to unplug the power to get it to work. Can anyone explain to me the best way to do what I want with settings and all if it is possible?
Here is my set up:
Zoom 5341 is my cable modem
Cisco e2000 (tomato is installed here but with default settings except login and ssid)
d-link 625 (default software installed - connected by wire to the cisco e2000 - I actually want to move this into another room completely if possible)
Here is my equipment:
2 original ipads
2 htc droid incredible 2
dell desktop (connected by wire to the cisco e2000)
lexmark wireless printer
