Found a website that gives some tips about improving the performance on Samba:
I have a RT-N16 with a 1TB WD (NTFS) plugged in.
On hdparm I get about 20MB/sec on reading and when transfering a file to a Windows 7 PC I was getting around 2.30MB/s.
After applying the tips of that website I was able to get a transfer rate of around 3.25MB/s.
Note that my router started hanging when transfering large files (around 4GB), I'm still checking the settings and checking what can be improved.
I also investigated some alternatives for NTFS-3G and found this website:
I've noticed that Paragon has a free version for personal use and according to the website above it seems to improve a lot the performance of NTFS.
The problem is that I'm having a lot of problems compiling it.
Does anyone have a link explaining how to compile things for Tomato on RT-N16 ? I'm also facing problems compiling the latest libtorrent lib.
Currently I'm compiling directly on the router as I have no idea on how to compile it in my own box.
Hope the links above helps! :-)
