I installed Tomato on a new RT-N16 because everyone's raving about it… but I didn't realize it is very hard to use for someone who doesn't know anything about routers and Tomato/DD-WRT. I tried the tutorials but even the language there seems like computer programming language.
Here's the instructions from a Tutorial I used to mount my USB drive:
Set Tomato to work with your drive:: (Return to top)
1. Log into your Tomato router, go to USB and NAS and check Core USB Support, USB 2.0 Support, if you are going to use usb 1.1 also check those boxes, the same as usb printer support, just if you are going to use it, check the filesystems that you will be using, in this case if you did what I said and aren’t going to plug any other drives, just check Ext2/Ext3.
Also check Automount.
Now that I've done it, and the drive shows as mounted, how do I access that drive from my computer?
Also, I would like to use the router for printer sharing and as a media server accessing the files in my USB drive (sorry if my lingo does not make sense), how can I easily do it? I see you have to type paths, etc. for media server set-up. Is it the same path for the mounted drive under USB and NAS > USB Support > Attached Devices?
Sorry and thank you for your patience with me. I can follow instructions but don't know the networking know-how to intuitively know what to do.
