I'm having problems with Tomato USB/NoUSB build 54.
My network setup is like this:
One RT-N16 that is my main router, connected to:
A desktop via Gbit
One RT-N12 that is my bridge router, connected to:
It is set up in "Wireless Ethernet Bridge" mode.
.. and one laptop with a 150Mbit AR9285 wireless card.
The problem is that when I use the TV, I get disconnections and poor speeds, sometimes it has to buffer, etc. So what I did was test the speed of the bridge using jperf on the laptop, located in the same place as the 2nd router, to see if there was a problem with the router.
The network bridge should be faster than the internal wireless, as it supports 300Mbit with 40mhz, instead of 150Mbit, as the laptop wireless is only a single radio N card.
The problem is when I tested the network bridge I got less than the laptop by a large margin, and the throughput of the router jumps around a lot.
Here are my numbers: (jperf run for 120 seconds, tcp)
RT-N12 - 20mhz, 357Mbytes, 25.0 Mbits/sec
RT-N12 - 40mhz, 319MBytes, 22.2 Mbits/sec
As you can see it's actually slower on 40mhz..
Laptop 20mhz, 469Mbytes, 32.8Mbits/sec
Laptop 40mhz, 584Mbytes, 40.8Mbits/sec
The laptop is double the speed, despite having a slower wireless card and being in the same location as the RT-N12. Also, the throughput is consistent on the laptop while on the router it is not.
Here are the graphs:
Anyone got any ideas?
