I use tomato for a long time, started with an wrt54g router. A few day ago, I've purchased a netgear wnr3500L (mostly for the gigabyte switch and usb sharing) and installed tomato (tomato-K26USB-1.28.9054MIPSR2-beta-vpn3.6) right away. Some thoughts :
Before flashing the original netgear firmware, I've tested samba speed : ~8.8Mb per sec with netgear / 6.5 - 7 Mb per sec with tomato. Why is that ?
Tomato is a great achievement and work pretty well but multi users support is seriously lagging behind. Yes this is not only a router anymore, it is a full nas device now. So, how could I *easily* manage samba users ? there is no gui option for that. Furthermore, there is no adduser command.
For vsftpd, I would like to point this : why oh why the ftp users are created with root privileges and can delete root or others users files and directories ? On a shared directory this could be very dangerous.
Any plan to include sd-idle-2.6 fonctions in the gui (even if doesn't work for *all* controllers)
it works fine on this:
P: Vendor=059f ProdID=1010 Rev=c6.83
S: Product=LaCie Desktop Hard Drive
Thanks again for this great firmware
