I am using toastman's build with the asus rt-n16 I just got the other week, I was a long time ddwrt user but I switched. Main problem is, when I reset the router I lose the info on how much I downloaded/uploaded for the month. I have the save on shutdown checked, its saved to RAM temporarily, should something be changed? or is this just a tomato problem?
Why is it not recommended to use NVRAM? It tell me that when I go to set it.

Because NVRAM is small and not meant for data that constantly changes. Attach a small thumbdrive to the router and use the custom path option to store the traffic data on the thumbdrive.
How the heck do you path it to your flash drive though?
plugin your USB Flash drive into the router's USB Port
power off then back on the router
Login to Tomato USB router
go to "USB and NAS"
make sure there is a CHECK MARK next to : [x]Core USB Support [x]USB 2.0 Support [x]USB Storage Support
at the very bottom of the screen click "SAVE"
under <Attached Devices> you should now see your usb flash drive recognized and mounted…if it is not mounted then click "mount"
hit SAVE again
under the flash drive description it will tell u what the usb flash drive is mounted as (in my case it said the following)
"Partition 'sda1' fuseblk (9999 MB / 9999 MB free) is mounted on /tmp/mnt/sda1"
so in this example i will use "/tmp/mnt/sda1"
now click on BANDWIDTH > CONFIGURE >
make sure ENABLE is checked
under "Save History Location" choose "Custom Path" and then use whatever your flash drive was mounted as in my example it would be "/tmp/mnt/sda1/" (without the quotes and make sure u put a / at the end)
make sure "Create New File" is checked
click SAVE
